E-mobility is the most rapidly growing trend in European transport right now - and it is only set to accelerate in coming years. In fact, in order to fulfill the ambition of the green deal and decarbonise its transport system by 2050, the EU must only sell zero-emission vehicles from the early 2030s onwards.
However, reaching this aim is only possible if there are sufficient opportunities to charge all these vehicles. The electric revolution in road transport must be supported by a rapid and widespread roll-out of charging infrastructure!
The upcoming revision of the Alternative Fuels Directive (AFID) is therefore absolutely key to phasing out ICE vehicles by 2030, and to fully decarbonising road transport by 2050. Binding targets for each member state are needed to ensure Europe can deliver on its climate commitments. The charging environment across Europe must also be more consumer-friendly, seamless, interoperable, and easy-to-understand for everyone.
This webinar will take a deeper look at what we can expect from the AFID, and how it will be key to supporting the uptake of e-mobility.
Questions discussed may include:
- Does Europe need an Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation?
- Should the focus be exclusively on electric recharging infrastructure? Which other technologies are needed, and which should be excluded?
- How many recharging points do we need?
- What makes high-quality infrastructure and how to improve user experience at EU charging stations?
A comprehensive EV infrastructure is a backbone for the end of the ICE Age!
